Hussein Bazaza

Okay, I’m taking my time to do the last couture review (Chanel’s), but at least I decided to write about one more of ESMOD Beirut’s graduate.

Just like Sarkis Dersahagian, or Hassana Mneimneh, Hussein Bazaza is one of the students that I really liked. His work is absolutely stuning in the way it is elaborated, from the theme, the idea to the actual work and the finished product, everything is captivating.

Actually, no one can talk about the collection better than Hussein himself, and he’s going to do the job instead of me (thank you).

And to talk about the actual designs here are some pictures.

I love every piece of Hussein’s collection, especially the dress and the shirt, there’s another dress too and a jacket that are amazing, but I can’t find pictures of them…

Anyway, look at all the work, the details, the finishing, everything is so flawless ! It doesn’t even look as a graduate’s collection, the way it’s draped and sewed looks totally professional and that’s what’s admirable in Hussein’s work, the awesomness of the finished product I was talking about, no wonder he won two prizes: The first prize of styling and the Jury Prize.

Now look at the accessories he created too, they fit perfectly and are true pieces of art, especially the rings, I love them ! And the shoes are simply astonishing !

Anyway, Hussein is one more fashion designer on the scene, and one that I’ll encourage because he can really go far, and just like the others, I can’t wait to catch his next move and share it with you.

Now babes, that makes three designers ‘’Made in Lebanon’’ to follow carefully as they have the potential to blow so many things.

And that makes me even more eager and hurried to enter fashion school next year, my friends !

See ya real soon !

Christian Dior Fall 2011 Couture Collection

Okay guys ! I’ve finally arrived to the two last big ones (Chanel and Christian Dior), the most awaited ones of each season. And I’ll start with Dior’s collection that was really a mess.
I don’t want to sound mean but this collection just showed that without Galliano they’re doomed, seriously they created atrocities ! Enough talking you have to see !
But first let me show you the very few ‘good’ outfits…

Yes… Only three, I know…. It is depressing, especially because none is really exceptional (though the last one is quite impressive).
Now I know you want to see the freak show so here we go…
Christian Dior Fall 2011 (nay)
(A three year old artwork made of paper)

(Is that supposed to be some kind of book ?)

(What are these prints and these cuts ?!?!?! The worst is still to come)
Christian Dior Fall 2011 (nay) 7 Christian Dior Fall 2011 (nay) 8
(Think we’ve reached the bottom ? Watch the rest carefully…)
Christian Dior Fall 2011 (nay) 9
(Oh my… What the bloody hell is this ?)

(And this ?!)

(I guess this is the worst of all prints I have ever seen…)

(That must be some kind of joke…)
Christian Dior Fall 2011 (nay) 16
(I think we actually can’t fall deeper, what the bloody fucking hell ? Where are you John Galliano ?)
It saddens me to see such a renowned label present such horrors, like seriously, who would even wear these ? And don’t tell me you disagree, these are some costumes or something, it’s impossible !
I think it was a really big mistake to fire Galliano, Susanna Venegas and Bill Gaytten may be polite and correct, but they create shit ! This collection is totally going to stay in my mind forever… As one of the worst I’ve ever seen.

See ya folks !

Valentino Fall 2011 Couture Collection

Tonight I’ll be doing two reviews my friends… YES ! Two ! And I’ll start with Valentino’s collection…
Now I have to say it saddens me to say such a thing but the collection is not as good as it would have been if Valentino directed it… And to be honnest I’m split in two opinions, as I really love some outfits, and can’t forgive the horror of others…
To start with, here’s a selection of my favorites:
Valentino Fall 2011 (8)
(Original and classy at the same time, now that’s the perfect deal !)
Valentino Fall 2011 (7)
(Simple and classy, if only it wasn’t velvet…)
Valentino Fall 2011 (3)
(Eternal chic, this is the real Chanel style… The way Karl should work… *whistle*)
Valentino Fall 2011 (5)Valentino Fall 2011 (6)
(These two are perfect ! You can accessorize in so many ways it’s fantastic !)
Valentino Fall 2011Valentino Fall 2011 (2)Valentino Fall 2011 (4)
(This one’s beautiful, but would be much better if the skirt was darker)
Valentino Fall 2011 (9)Valentino Fall 2011 (10)
(Marvelous outfit, it’s timeless, flawless ! (And the next one too))
Valentino Fall 2011 (11)Valentino Fall 2011 (12)Valentino Fall 2011 (13)Valentino Fall 2011 (14)
(Maybe something less shiny would have been better, but the work on the shoulder is simply amazing)
Valentino Fall 2011 (15)Valentino Fall 2011 (16)
(I love these last two, especially because of the material used and the colors…)
To sum up, all of these carry a certain poetry, to me, they’re true masterpieces, sculptures even I would buy to expose…
But the following series is going to be really disappointing, especially after seeing these wonders. Enjoy !
Valentino Fall 2011 (nay) 9
(What’s wrong with this shiny velvet spots on clear fabric ?)
Valentino Fall 2011 (nay) 10
(No comment)
Valentino Fall 2011 (nay)
(This reminds me of and armor, isn’t it too stiff for Valentino’s style ?)
Valentino Fall 2011 (nay) 2
(And that’s too gothic, and it’s such a bad use of velvet)
Valentino Fall 2011 (nay) 5Valentino Fall 2011 (nay) 3
(Velvet again and again ! Do not do such designs in velvet these shiny shadows are not classy !)
Valentino Fall 2011 (nay) 4
(No comment again)
Valentino Fall 2011 (nay) 7
(Do not use such disgusting colors !)
Valentino Fall 2011 (nay) 6
(This is the ‘’What The Fuck’’ piece of the collection, tell me you don’t agree…)
So basically my thoughts are really messed up because there’s a whole part of the collection that really sucks while the other is beyond wonderful. Yet, I realize that my judgement is really personal as a lot of them implies colors and fabrics, and that’s a matter of taste not of rules.
So as I said I’m still convinced Valentino would have done something way better, instead it’s Pier Paolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri that worked on it… Perhaps they are still tweaking, we’ll know sooner or later my friends…

See ya… In a few minutes !
