New York Fashion Week Spring 2012 (Part 5)

After Part One, Part Two, Part Three, AND Part Four, I bring to you guys the fifth part of New York’s fashion week (and probably not the last…), as usual it’ll be a  few words expressingmy thoughts about the collection followed by pictures of my favorite looks. Enjoy !

Francesc by Frank Tell

Well there’s not much to this, but I liked the fact that it could be inspired by McQueen… From the cuts, colours, to the hairdo, everything is like a softcore version of McQueen’s work, and I actually find it very cute.

GAP

I’ll never get this brand…

But if you want check the collection here.

Gary Graham

Watch and learn my friends ‘cause this is what ready-to-wear should be like ! This is what I call true creativity: original pieces along original compositions, all in perfect harmony, BANG !

Graeme Armour

Pointless.

Gregory Parkinson

Monochromatic white dresses is perhaps the easiest… But if you’re looking for a white dress, at least you know where to look for it now, they’re fine and pretty.

Helmut Lang

Not a fan… Sport-chic won’t work for me… But it can be good, I’ve managed to pick two outfits…

Check the rest of it here, and tell me if you somehow fall for the straps.

Hervé Léger by Max Azria

Not a big fan of this too, it somehow reminds me of Altuzarra’s collection… But cut in silvery and golden fabrics ! When the fuck are these going to be out of fashion ?! I’m a bit disappointed, I remember that it was far better a few years ago…

Imitation of Christ

What the fuck went wrong ?

Check it here.

Isaac Mizrahi

Interesting dresses for special occasions, I like the fact that every woman can find something in this collection. It features a dress for every style, even Lady Gaga can find something (and cut it here and there).

J.Crew

Simple, color-blocking, stylish, fit, describe it as you wish, it’s just another ready-to-wear brand that’ll please many of us… It lacks originality, but even I fell for some outfits…

The first outfit is simply amazing !

This last shirt has wonderful colours ! And I globally like the way things are put together.

J. Mendel

Somehow original, even if it’s a bit hard to catch at first glance. Look deeply, some outfits are simply incredible as they embody so much creativity with such discretion…

Jason Wu

Never been a big fan, but there’s something about this collection that totally wrapped me ! It’s all about the shapes ! The work’s done in such a way that you simply have to fall for it, and that is simply astonishing.

Besotted by the last dress !

Jen Kao

Globally won’t work for me… But I’m suprised by the amount of creativity developed on some outfits ! But then again it’s the kind of collection where you go something like: ‘’Oh ! Wow ! Wow ! Ugh ! *puke* ! Naaah ! Ouuuh ! Waw !’’, a total rollercoaster if you get what I mean…

New York Fashion Week Spring 2012 (Part 4)

Told you I’d need at least five or six posts to talk about New York’s fashion week… And here we are after Part One, Part Two and Part Three for a new series of reviews.

For those who have just joined us, it works as usual: a brief commentary summarizing my thoughts about the collection + pictures of my favorite looks.

Enjoy !

Diane Von Furstenberg

The way this woman appeals you is whimsical ! She does such a brilliant work with colours and shapes, though I’m not a big fan of these outdated prints this collection is by far one of the best… Until now.

Ladies, check the first look, it’s part of my top rated ones for this season !

Diesel Black Gold

It’s Diesel ! What do you expect ? It’s never going to be more original, that’s the best they can do… And I’ll have to add that silvery fabrics are so 2010… AND cheap, i’ve never been a fan, it’s time to move on ! Anyway I somehow found some outfits that could work…

Diesel Black Gold Spring 2012 (2) Diesel Black Gold Spring 2012 (3) Diesel Black Gold Spring 2012 I can’t believe it, I’m forced to accept this silvery fabrics…

Check the rest of the collection here.

DKNY

Donna Karan did a good work here, but not as good as the one she did for her other label… This collection’s simple, and tricky, perhaps she’ll sell more of these, and that’s exactly the point…

DKNY Spring 2012 (4) DKNY Spring 2012 (5) DKNY Spring 2012 DKNY Spring 2012 (2) DKNY Spring 2012 (3) I love the combination of blue and red, it’s somehow very challenging but she managed to pull it though…

If you’re a New York style fan check the whole collection here.

Donna Karan

I’ve never been a really big fan of this woman’s work, but this collection somehow stunned me… She chose a very difficult theme, that can very easily toggle into bad-taste outfits, but it turned out to be one of the best collections so far too… Ok, it’s a bit more important than DKNY, but she could have applied her magic there too, couldn’t she ?

The skirt in the second look’s a killer !

Fierce ! Especially this last gown, it’s one of the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, definitely joining my top rated looks of this season…

Check the whole collection here.

Doo.Ri

Now that’s something new to me… It’s pretty simple, but I’ve got to say that a few daring details absolutely captured my attention, and my heart ! Who can resist drape ? Not me.

Check the rest of it here.

Douglas Hannant

Again, it’s not the revolution of the century, but there are some things like the third dress or the skirt in the fourth outfit that are simply eye-catching and totally missed the plate.

Duro Olowu

Let’s put it that way: Except these two incredible outfits I’ve picked, it’s a total fail !

If you ever want to, you can check the rest here.

Edun

Just another ‘haut de gamme’ H&M, I’m not goin to lose my time.

You can still check it here.

Elie Tahari

I somehow managed to put my bitterness aside to pick these oufits, but I can’t keep on, I just can’t seem to like (or even fake it) this man’s concepts. It’s really too simple for me… And I don’t get why everybody loves him so much !

Erin Fetherston

Unknow-till-now, it’s the kind of simplicity I like, or at least accept. I guess it’s all about knowing you’re doing something simple and accepting it… Not over-acting, taking it too seriously…

Farah Angsana

I’ve just discovered her, and except for these three outfits, it’s a total fiasco !

New York’s fashion week is exhausting ! It’s like a rollercoaster ! There are so many ups followed by so many downs it makes me sick ! I’m almost getting tired of it… So this should be enough for today… See you soon for more fashion week’s reviews or new discoveries.
