I’ll start the series about couture shows with this first post on Alexis Mabille’s collection, a designer that doesn’t mean anything to me, yet could be important if some things change.
Anyway this is my review of his Fall 2011 collection, some things were good, some could be better, and there are some terrible stuff… I picked the creations worth commenting, but you can see more here, check the captions for comments.
And I’ll start with the best ones.
To me this outfit is the best, because of its originality, it’s new, fresh, daring, and that’s why I like it.
This one is really good too, I like the color combination and the shape, it’s just the velvet that looks wrong to me, I don’t like velvet.
This one is good too, I can only comment the choice of colors, but what can we do ? Black and white is a classic, and it’s always so classy.
Now let’s move on to the almost-good ones
This one is okay but would have been really good if it was slicker.
This one is beautiful ! But it just smells so Balmain.
This one is beautiful too but reminds me of Lanvin.
This one’s good too yet too Pucci-ish.
And at last, this is one of his bests, but should I say what it reminds me ? It’s so McQueen-ish ! Now that makes four models that aren’t personal and makes me think of something else, I mean where is the designer’s identity ?
Now let’s move on to the worst creations.
What the fuck ?
Too beasty for my taste….
Too beasty too… (although the basic idea is good)
This one’s just ugly (it actually is the worst) and makes her look fat.
Finally I’ll leave you with this design I haven’t made my mind on… Because I feel I’ve already seen this, and it’s a bit too harsh, yet after a moment, the harshness and savagery fade away and I start to like it and find it chic.
What do you think about it ? What do you think of the whole collection ? Do you agree with my comments ?
I’ll be back soon with another show’s review.
