Salvador Dali’s Bird Compact

This thing I discovered last day is so awesome I’m dedicating a whole post to it ! Whoever knows me, knows that Dali is one of my favorite artists, a source of inspiration, nothing can describe the genius that was that man, he was so above average and you can’t look at his work without being moved, without feeling some kind of sensation whether it is astonishment, disgust or admiration. Any way, last night, stumbling on this magnificient and ingenious, sophisticated accessory… I was just amazed.

So basically it’s a bird-shaped compact he created around World War II, where everything is so intelligently structured that it is stunning! It contains make-up (Powder under the wings, lipstick behind the head), a pillbox under the tail, and a mirror. Looking at this jewel I just realize how soulless designers can be today, I mean they’ll never ever do something as brilliant as this, because today we’re too lazy to even think, I mean electronics are here for that, aren’t they ?

   

Oh, and if you somehow want to buy it, (or offer it to me) it only costs 1,695$…

And because I know some of you won’t be satisfied with a bird-shaped compact, here’s my latest drawing, entitled: ‘’La Mécanique Des Lendemains’’ which can be translated into: ‘’Tomorrow’s Mechanics’’. I really like it, and enjoyed doing it, basically I started out of nothing (actually the lady’s shoe) and step by step I found myself drawing this fresco… I won’t talk about it or explain what I see in it, I’d like to hear it from you…

Vans X Hermès

I’m sorry for not posting a lot lately, I’m just being super busy… And even this one’s going to be disappointing, it’s just a quick and short trip to show you something beautiful !

Last day, going through the latest Plastik* issue (a great local magazine), I stumbled on these wonderful shoes I’d personally die for !!!

Just look at the amazing shit that comes out when you ask Robert Verdi to customize Vans, and he uses magical famous Hermès designs and prints ! Fuck ! I’d totally like to grab a pair when they’ll be out this fall…

(Babes you know my birthday’s in October, right ?)

Giambattista Valli Fall 2011 Couture Collection

Hello peeps ! I say, let’s get back to the couture collections, because I’d really feel bad if I don’t do all of them…

So here we go ! Tonight I’ll be judging Giambattista Valli’s first couture collection, as it is his first one, I’ll try to balance my words, not to be too harsh.

Globally it’s… Fine. (It lacks originality). But could use some adjustments here and there. I mean some ideas are good and I really like the colors, this coral is just amazing, like I love them. So, just as for Alexis Mabille’s collection I’ll divide these outfits in three categories; the beauties, the ones that need cosmetic surgery (*wink*) and finally the beasts (yes…).

And let’s start with the beauties ! (As in my favorites).

(For its lightness)

(For its sweet provocation)

(For its original simplicity)

(For its calm bestiality)

(Because you can play with it)

(Because it glorifies red, just forget the necklace)

(Because the shapes and colors are in perfect harmony)

(Because I’d love to see a woman wear this, the belt brings it a step closer to perfection)

Now let’s move on to the almost-good ones.

Too puffy. (I propose a liposuction).

Shorter and tighter !

Easy on the shoulders ! Softer and lighter please.

Why is it shining ? It makes it so cheap !

Keep the shape, change the colors and the print !

And finally… the ugly outfits…

To sum up, this collection shows me that Giambattista Valli is capable of doing great stuff, beautiful dresses and wonderful pieces of art, but at the same time monstruous outfits that are just disastrous, and so fashion faux-pas… Perhaps it’s the lack of experience, however I can’t wait to see his next couture collection, maybe this time it will only be masterpieces.

Today I discovered these on the internet, and I thought it would be fun to share this with you, it’s so random I know, but I present to you: the buddha shaped pears ! Straight from Japan, for about seven dollars the fruit… Cute, no ?

My Room

Hello peeps ! Tonight’s post is very special, I’m running away from art and fashion and discoveries to share something really stunning !

For those who know me, this is going to sound like a miracle, maybe even super natural ! But don’t worry, I’m fine, I’m feeling really good, something just hit me.

So for the others I have to introduce… Basically I’m the kind of person who always has to tidy his room, if you ask people around me they’ll be like: “What the fuck ! Last time I found some  rubber duck in his bed !’’ or like: ‘’Maaan there’s a hammer on your stairs !’’.

Yeah, I’m like this and I like my room this way, with books and papers, drawings all over my desk, random toys and tools here and there, I just love it ! And people always go like: “How do you find what you need in this mess ?’’, fact is: it may be a mess but I know that my black pen is under the book about perfumes that’s under the pants next to the phone ! And I just hate it when someone decides to tidy everything because I get so lost !

It’s not that I don’t like tidying it, it’s always better when organized, I just don’t have time to sacrifice ! And I know I’m not the only one so if you’re just like me… Well high five !

So, today my room looked like this:

And so I couldn’t find a space on the desk to draw properly…

And as usual I started clearing a part of it, and step by step I was engaged on a dangerous path…. I was tidying my room ! Yes ! Yes ! I don’t even believe it myself…

And now watch the pictures… It’s as if some mad lady with OCD passed by here and spent the afternoon cleaning…

      

This is exceptional my friends ! Even I am having difficulties to understand what happened and to actually believe there’s nothing, not even a piece of paper on my desk !

But I can already tell you that it’s not going to last… I’ll see how much it’s going to last this time…

And now you must be thinking it’s still very crowded, and wondering how I work with so many things around me, but I need all this, especially the wall, it’s so inspiring, all of my room is, it looks just like me and evolves with me and that’s not everybody’s case, so may it be tidy or messy I’ll always like it, as much as I love every single thing I own.

PS: Check what I’ve done with the fabric bought yesterday at Souk El Ahad ! (It’s still not sewn though, I need feedback).
